Aquaria in Kuala Lumpur:

Practical Infos for your Visit!

1. Aquaria KLCC: Why should you visit it?

Aquaria KLCC is a state-of-the-art oceanarium that stretches across 60,000 square feet within the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The expo features multiple zones: from tropical rainforests to coral reefs, deep-sea tunnels, and shark-filled tanks too!

One of the highlights of this oceanarium is its transparent tunnel, which is approximately 90 meters long and which gives visitors the chance to enjoy the breathtaking view of sharks, stingrays, turtles, and other unique aquatic creatures swimming over their heads: it’s immersive and spectacular, it makes you feel just at the bottom of the ocean!

Different sections cover around 5000 animals, including the land and aquatic species collected from all over the world.

Each section is designed to educate visitors about marine ecosystems while promoting conservation and sustainability (a great learning experience for all ages!).

Furthermore, interactive displays with safety assurance features, including DNA Touch Pool and feeding sessions, have made it a hit for families, students, and nature lovers alike.

2. The 7 Areas of Aquaria KLCC

Evolution Zone

This zone uncovers the origin of the aquatic life and their evolution over time.

Informative displays and panels here explain how the ancient species have adapted to the current aquatic environment.

It is the perfect outing zone, particularly for people with an interest in biodiversity and adaptations of the aquatic life.

Deep Forest

Deep Forest is an area that gives visitors a glimpse of recreation consisting of freshwater ecosystems, mainly those present in Southeast Asia.

The simulation of the rainforest waters having river creatures in it highlights the existence of freshwater species as present in the Amazon and Malaysian forests.

Shipwreck Zone

It is the most incredible zone that surprises people by showing how the shipwrecks can become a habitat for marine life!

Here you will find the simulation of a sunken ship deep into the ocean, forming a reef for the creatures living there.

Moreover, the themed lighting and decor in this section give visitors realistic views.

Living Ocean Tunnel

If you dream of viewing aquatic life from the depths of the ocean, you can live those dreamy moments here.

This tunnel is an underwater tunnel extending upto the 90 meters with moving walkways under it. While walking on this track, you can experience the marine life swimming and moving right over their heads.

Weird & Wonderful

You will find the most weird and unusual aquatic creatures in this zone.

It highlights the extensive adaptations of the marine species.

It shows how the ever-changing environment has forced animals develop unusual features for their survival.

Therefore, the people with curiosity about nature’s adaptive phenomenon (like me! xD) will never get bored with this zone

Touch Pool

It can be the most favorite zone of children in the Aquarium KLCC because of its interactive features.

The permission to experience the hands-on interaction, including a gentle touch with marine life, has added more excitement to the person’s visit.

However, you have to follow the clear guidelines to ensure a safe interaction.

3. Layout Of Aquaria KLCC

Aquaria KLCC has a unidirectional layout for the exhibition of the aquatic life section-wise.

Unlike other big oceanarium, such as the Oceanographic of Valencia, it is easy to follow a straight pathway to explore each zone without getting confused about the directions or the fear of missing any experience: it is huge, but still not messy! xD

Not only for the visitors, but this layout has also simplified the management of tourists.

People guiding and managing the people in this Aquaria can easily avoid congestion in the area because there is no risk of backtracking.

4. Interactive Experiences At Aquaria KLCC

The most popular interactive experiences at Aquaria KLCC include touch pool and feeding sessions.

The touch pool area allows visitors to feel the marine life closely by touching some small marine creatures, mainly starfish.

This interaction is accomplished under a controlled environment.

Aquatic animals chosen for this experience usually can bear the human touch without panicking.

In addition, clear instructions about textures, movement, and physical characteristics of animals are given to the visitors before touching.

To ensure the proper safety of this interaction, the presence of a supervisor has been made necessary at all times.

The feeding session is another favorite activity of people coming to Aquaria KLCC.

It is usually done in the larger tanks with transparent walls.

So, the visitors, with the excitement of viewing marine animals eating their food, gathered around the tanks during feeding time.

The staff present there also give information about the diets of marine life and the role of each animal in maintaining the ecosystem: it’s fun to see, yet deeply educational too! 🙂

5. Aquaria KLCC Ticket Details

Different people have to buy different tickets according to their categories.

Visitors aged 13 to 59 years can buy standard adult tickets at prices of RM49–RM55.

However, children aged 3–12 years old and adults older than 60 years can enjoy a discount on this ticket price.

Similarly, Malaysian visitors have to pay a lesser amount for the tickets than non-Malaysians.

You can buy tickets directly from the Aquaria KLCC ticket counter during your visit.

If you want to get some deals or discounts on the ticket prices, online purchasing can be a better option for you.

But, you should ensure that you are relying on trustworthy platforms, preferably the Aquaria KLCC official ticketing page for ticket purchases.

Furthermore, third-party travel and outing platforms can also offer special discounted deals for their customers.
