A Journey into Maldives’ Luxury: Treetop & Underwater Rooms!

UNDERWATER room in the maldives

 “Maldives are a one-of-a-kind destination,

which pushes luxury to the limit.”

In this blog we’ve been talking extensively about the Maldives: we talked about the exclusive water villas, budget-friendly guest-hoses, the best activities to do for families, and also for relaxing and unwinding.

Today, we would like to add another short article to the list, to show you two of the most curious (and crazy!) accommodation options that this tiny archipelago country has to offer! 🙂

When choosing an accommodation for the Maldives, there are too many choices: over 130 resorts across the nation, and each with different villa categories. Adding to that the guesthouses, apartments, and Airbnb, you can imagine how these islands offer something for all tastes!

Today though, I would like to show you two examples of Maldive accommodation that stand out, rooms with features that are extremely hard to find.

Of course, these villas may not be suitable for everyone: to some, they might cause phobia, for many might be out of budget, and many others would prefer the classic sea-level villa.

Said that these two resorts represent a niche within the Maldives holiday offers, which I found stunning to look at and interesting to talk about, so here you go! 😀

Let’s dive right in! 🙂

Two Maldives’ Room Options

to leave the Ground Level 🙂

1. Maldives’ Luxurious Underwater Room:

Sleeping with the Fish!

Corals and colorful schools of fish are some of the world’s best attractions for sea lovers.

From fish tanks at home to aquariums, yachts with underwater windows, floating bungalows, overwater villas, and water-based leisure activities, the possibilities to get in contact with the beauty of the sea life, are today truly endless

If you feel connected to the sea on a deeper level (e.g. like my girlfriend, who was born on the seaside, if she goes one month without the sea, she starts itching ahah), or if perhaps your favorite child cartoon was “the Little Mermaid”, there is one resort in the Maldives where you could bring your connection with the sea to a whole new level!

This dreamy place is located the in the South Ari Atoll and is the “Muraka Suite” of Hilton Conrad, a Resort with an undersea bedroom where you can sleep encircled by fish all around! *incredible*

SAFETY OF THE UNDERWATER BEDROOM: OVER A DECADE OF EXPERIENCE!

When seeing the photos of this place, there are usually two kinds of reaction: like me (oh my god, just bring me there!” feel), or like my girlfriend, who despite loving the sea above and beyond, just fell into the is it that safe, I get anxious only by seeing it feel.

After a brief discussion, we did some research about the safety features of the place.

After all, whenever you think of doing any expedition underwater there may be safety aspects that you may wonder about, so always better to double-check!

What we found out, is that this Maldives resort has an excellent safety record that tracks back to several years starting with an underwater restaurant that commenced a decade ago.

The field-tested design is now implemented in the undersea hotel which also has been around for a few years now, all without any incident at all.

IT’S MORE THAN A SINGLE BEDROOM, IT’S A WATER VILLA TOO!

The underwater room is just one of the several other luxury facilities composing this luxury villa accommodation, which is a private residence comprising of 3 bedrooms, a private pool, butler quarters, a gym, and security.

Only one bedroom is located undersea and the rest of the facilities are placed above the surface.

The villa itself is located at an isolated spot of the resort, there is a wooden jetty that connects the villa to the resort for easy access.

Not having other villas in the vicinity makes this residence private – perfect for secret luxury escapes and for completely unplugging from the world

The underwater hotel bedroom could be an amazing experience for honeymoons, couples, families, or anyone searching for the ultimate once-in-lifetime relaxing experience or an epic place for an epic celebration.

I say “once-in-lifetime”, because of course (and sadly eh eh) the price tag per night is also extraordinary as the place itself: the price per night for the whole residence range between 10.000-20.000$ a night, which even split among 5-6 persons would be 3000-4000$ person/night: a very prohibitive price for most!

Despite the price though, I thought it interesting to talk about this place as it stands as an extremely rare and wonderful human creation that sparkles imagination and pushes the boundaries of creativity. 🙂

Let’s move on to the next, not-on-the-ground kind of accommodation ;D

2. You can Rejuvenate By Experiencing

Being Surrounded by Nature the Whole Day

When you are on holiday, you usually want to experience something different from your everyday lifestyle.

People living in cities stay in high-rise buildings, and people on classic life still live in houses.

At the same time, in the Maldives there is a resort that offers a different dimension to stay, that is the treetop villa with a private pool that is suspended above ground by several meters.

The Treetop Villa belongs to the Amilla Maldives Resort and comes with 2 bedrooms, perfect for 2 adults and 2 children, and is a location prized by Forbes for its incredible and luxurious design.

The indoor space covers 170 sqm while the exterior expands to another 80 sqm. which makes the villa spacious in all aspects, but not to the extravagant level of the underwater villa option.

While the price tag makes this option surely more affordable for most tourists (3000-4000$/night, which could be split among 4-5 people), the tree-top villa is still a luxury accommodation ideal just for those travelers looking for a place to indulge and splurge for a few days! 😉

The most attractive part of the villa is surely its private pool, surrounded by natural vegetation including palm trees.

Guests staying in Beach Villas or Water Villa get to see trunk of palm trees and glance at the top.

The experience in treetop villa takes you up where birds live.

The animals you might expect to see from the treetop bedroom are mainly flying foxes, that visit palm trees, and native birds, that visit the pool for water.

Last but not least, the outdoor dining area is another huge attraction in this villa, you can order lunch from In-Villa Dining and your butler will serve it at the treetop: a service to feel cuddled out of the roof! ;D

Conclusion
