1. Italiana or Platy Pounta, Koufonisia

Koufonisia has been stealing the spotlight in recent years, and it’s not without reason.

More and more families choose this destination for its emerald waters and vast sandy beaches, where kids can freely build sandcastles and dig their little toes into the grains of sand.

You can easily combine your visit to Koufonisia with a trip to Naxos and even plan a day trip there since it’s just an hour away by boat.

2. Falassarna, Crete

Crete holds a special place in our hearts, and for good reason!

While all its beaches are stunning, Falassarna offers the ultimate beach experience.

With its endless stretch of golden sand, you won’t feel overwhelmed even during peak seasons.

The crystal-clear turquoise waters, shallow sea, and fine sand create the perfect playground for your kids.

Just be mindful of avoiding a south wind day, as it can bring along a bit of sand in your face.

3. Agios Prokopios, Naxos

The Cyclades couldn’t be absent from our list.

A stone’s throw away from Naxos town, you’ll find Agios Prokopios, an expansive beach with powdery sand and pristine waters. We highly recommend it for families!

After a refreshing swim, indulge in a delightful meal at one of the seaside taverns in the area, the ambience is great there!

4. Sani, Halkidiki

If you’re from the northern part of Greece or planning to head that way, Halkidiki is always a classic choice.

In the first leg of Halkidiki, Sani unveils a seven-kilometer beach with incredible waters, white sandy shores, and a stunning pine forest that pleases the eye with its lush greenery.

While umbrellas and sunbeds are available, opt for a beach umbrella, a straw mat, and some beach chairs if you want to save some money. The presence of lifeguards ensures added safety for your family.

5. The Caribbean… in Elafonisos

Simos beach in Elafonisos is ranked among the top beaches in Greece, and rightfully so!

It’s essentially composed of two beaches, Frangos and Sarakiniko, which together create an exotic landscape.

Imagine turquoise shallow waters, sand stretching as far as the eye can see, and sand dunes where kids can delight in endless play.

Moreover, if you’re considering a family camping adventure, there’s a well-organized camping site in the area to cater to your needs.

6. Gerakas, Zakynthos

While we don’t want to overlook Laganas and Kalamaki (as all the beaches in Zakynthos are exceptional), we choose Gerakas because it’s another beautiful beach with soft sand.

The beach prohibits water sports, making it ideal for families seeking a tranquil experience. After 8 PM, the beach is empty as it serves as a nesting ground for the Caretta-Caretta turtles.

If even the turtles choose this beach, why shouldn’t you? 😉

7. Agioi Saranta, Pelion

A blend of white sand and white pebbles sets the scene at Agioi Saranta beach.

Unique emerald-green waters and plenty of open space characterize this beach.

Whether you prefer the sandy shore or the pebbles, choosing this beach won’t disappoint!

8. Tsambika, Rhodes

Just 30 kilometers away from Rhodes Town, Tsambika beach awaits.

With its crystalline blue waters, sandy shores, and shallow depths (perfect for kids to play), this beach offers a delightful setting for the whole family.

9. Sarakiniko, Parga

Exotic beaches are not exclusive to the islands!

If you opt for the beautiful town of Parga for your vacation, Sarakiniko is a must-visit.

Picture incredible azure waters, sandy shores everywhere, and a landscape surrounded by lush greenery that will leave you in awe. Don’t confuse it with Sarakiniko beach of Milos.

10. Elafonisi, Crete

Crete deserves a second mention on our list because its beauties are endless.

Besides Simos in Elafonisos, Elafonisi in Crete is simply magical.

The shallow waters boast an incredible shade of blue, while the unique pink sand beach will captivate even the most discerning visitors.

11. Chrysi Akti, Messinia

Just ten minutes away from Pylos, Chrysi Akti is undoubtedly a “golden” choice.

It’s an expansive sandy beach with transparent waters that allow you to admire the underwater world.

If you’re lucky, you might even spot a sea turtle leisurely swimming by.

However, it’s a good idea to bring your own umbrella, straw mats, and snacks, as the beach is not organized.

12. Olympiaki Akti, Katerini

A beach of Olympic proportions that leaves even the most demanding visitors satisfied.

It’s easily accessible, located near Katerini, and caters to all preferences.

With its vast expanse of sand and clear waters, Olympiaki Akti is one of the best choices for Northern Greece.

13. Megalo Kavouri, Attica

Just 16 kilometers away from the center of Athens, Kavouri is undoubtedly one of the most popular beaches in Attica.

Just before the famous Vouliagmeni beach, you’ll come across a small, tranquil peninsula with clean and shallow waters, perfect for summer outings with your children.

The beach is easily accessible by public transportation via the metro to Elliniko and then a bus that stops right in front of Kavouri.

Just after Megalo Kavouri, you’ll encounter its “sibling,” Mikro Kavouri, also an ideal destination for summer dips with the family, right next to the city but with slightly deeper waters.

14. Monastiri, Paros

In the northern part of Paros, a beach perfectly combines family-friendly and relaxed moments with the cosmopolitan vibe of the island.

Monastiri is located just after the renowned Kolymbithres and stands out for its wide, sandy shore, which becomes the ideal refuge for carefree moments until sunset. In front, a calm cove with waters that the strong winds of the Cyclades never reach—so shallow that you’ll have to venture far out to truly swim.

While Monastiri may not be the most suitable beach for “sunbathing,” it is the perfect choice if you want to let your children play freely, build sandcastles, or ride their water bikes. Just above, a beach bar that also serves as a restaurant from noon onward will provide you with everything you need.

Useful tip: If you arrive at the beach before 11 in the morning, you’ll encounter an infinite tranquility that cannot be described in words.

15. Arillas, Thesprotia

In the enchanting Syvota, very close to the traditional settlement of Perdika, Arillas beach is one of the most serene and shallow beaches in all of Thesprotia.

It features fine sand and crystal-clear waters, while the nearby canteen offers everything from coffee and snacks to refreshing granitas and ice cream.

Families consistently choose this beach for its peaceful character and the fact that it’s truly a stone’s throw away from Perdika, where you’ll find plenty of rental accommodations and several restaurants with good food.

If your goal is to have old-fashioned, family-oriented holidays, then a visit to Arillas is a must.
